Reporting Notes

The Associated Press and Reuters separately reported eight deaths on Nov. 1, citing Gaza hospitals, medics and the Hamas-run interior ministry. AP attributed five deaths in Khan Younis to Nasser Hospital and three in Gaza City, including a 4-year-old boy, to Shifa Hospital; Reuters said the interior ministry identified five of those killed in Khan Younis as police. The Israeli military said it struck militants in Khan Younis. These casualty and target accounts have not been independently verified by INCE NEWS, and the sources do not establish the status of all those killed. Eight deaths reported in two strikes

At least eight Palestinians were killed in two Israeli strikes in Gaza on Sunday, Nov. 1, according to hospital officials, medics and the Hamas-run interior ministry cited by the Associated Press and Reuters.

Nasser Hospital received five bodies after a strike in Khan Younis, the Associated Press reported. Reuters said the interior ministry identified the five as police officers. In a separate attack in Gaza City, three people were killed, including a 4-year-old boy, and a woman was seriously wounded, AP reported, citing Shifa Hospital.

The outlets' accounts agree on the total but do not independently establish the identity or status of every person killed. The five killed in Khan Younis were described as police by the interior ministry; that account has not been independently confirmed.

Israel says it targeted militants

The Israeli military said it struck several militants in Khan Younis, Reuters reported. It did not immediately comment on the Gaza City strike, Reuters said. AP also reported the military's account of a strike on militants in Khan Younis.

Israel says Hamas has been rebuilding its arsenal and violating the ceasefire. Hamas denies rearming or launching attacks and accuses Israel of undermining the agreement, Reuters reported. Neither news report independently verified the military's target claims or the status of all those killed.

A truce with continuing deadly attacks

A ceasefire that took effect in October 2025 largely halted major fighting, AP reported, but Israeli strikes have continued. Negotiations over Hamas disarmament and an Israeli troop withdrawal have made little progress, Reuters reported.

The Nov. 1 deaths came amid that unresolved gap: the truce has reduced the scale of fighting without ending lethal attacks or settling who controls security in Gaza.
