IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix search-indexed update dated Oct. 31 reported 300,391 people in 50,059 households displaced since the June escalation and gave governorate totals; the underlying DTM pages returned HTTP 403 during direct checks. AP on Nov. 2 and AFP on Nov. 1 separately reported IOM’s statement that more than 300,000 people had fled and described urgent needs; these are reports of the same agency assessment, not independent headcounts. AFP reported IOM’s $45 million six-month funding request. A new tally crosses 300,000
More than 300,000 people have been displaced in western Yemen since renewed fighting escalated in June, according to the International Organization for Migration’s latest Displacement Tracking Matrix update. The agency recorded 300,391 people in 50,059 households as of Oct. 31.
The update added 10,314 people to the tally shown in the Oct. 26 rapid-displacement report. It attributed 299,335 of the cumulative total to displacement recorded between Aug. 1 and Oct. 31. The count tracks people forced from their homes; it is not a casualty figure or an estimate of everyone affected by the war.
Taiz, Lahj and Aden host most recorded arrivals
IOM’s breakdown placed 133,800 displaced people in Taiz governorate, 73,110 in Lahj and 56,934 in Aden. Together, the three governorates accounted for most of the total recorded since the escalation began.
The Associated Press reported that many families have moved south toward Aden, which has received more than 56,000 people in IOM’s latest figures. The agency says families urgently need shelter, food, clean water and health care, while aid groups face difficulty reaching some communities.

Aid agency seeks funds for six more months
IOM said it needs $45 million over the next six months to continue emergency assistance. In a statement reported by AFP on Nov. 1, the agency warned that thousands of families could go without support if additional funding does not arrive.
The request comes as new arrivals add pressure to host communities and services already affected by years of conflict. The agency said it was delivering medical assistance in five locations; the available reporting does not provide a breakdown of how much of the requested funding has been pledged or spent.
The figures remain a measure of recorded movement
The DTM update is a rolling operational tally that can change as field teams receive new reports and revise earlier records. It describes displacement linked to the latest escalation, rather than all displacement across Yemen’s longer war.
The latest count therefore signals the scale of an urgent new movement of people, while the full reach of unmet needs remains difficult to measure where access is limited.
