Reporting Notes

The figure of more than 600,000 refers to electricity consumers, as stated by DTEK and regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha; it is not a verified count of individual people. The governor listed five affected districts and said hospitals and critical infrastructure were switching to generators. DTEK said several of its facilities had been hit, with equipment damage and a fire. AFP and Ukrainska Pravda separately reported the outage while relying on these official and company statements, so they do not constitute independent measurement of the total. The exact damaged sites and restoration timetable were not available in the sources reviewed on Nov. 8. A bounded search of official and original-event imagery found AFP images under licensing controls, with no reusable permission established. The two distinct licensed archive images below show energy infrastructure in India, not the affected Ukrainian facilities; their dates, creators, source links and licence terms are retained.

Outages spread across five districts

More than 600,000 electricity consumers in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region were left without power after overnight attacks on energy infrastructure on Nov. 8, according to regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha and the energy company DTEK.

Hanzha named the Dnipro, Kamianske, Samar, Pavlohrad and Synelnykove districts. DTEK said several of its facilities were hit that morning, damaging equipment and starting a fire. The sources did not identify the sites or provide a full damage assessment.

Hospitals switch to generators as repairs begin

The governor said hospitals and other critical infrastructure were switching to generator power. DTEK said repair work was underway; both the company and regional administration warned that further attacks were complicating restoration.

The regional administration said more than 400 resilience centres were operating across the five partly affected districts. Such centres provide basic services including device charging, internet access and warmth, according to the governor.

The outage total is an early estimate

The figure describes electricity consumers, not a confirmed number of individual residents. It comes from the company and regional authorities, and the restoration timeline remained unclear in their public updates reviewed on Nov. 8.

AFP and Ukrainska Pravda reported the outage separately, citing the same primary statements. Their reporting confirms the public account and its immediate effects, but the number of disconnected consumers has not been independently audited.
